We are thrilled to hear how many teachers and students all over the US and Canada have brought Tiktaalik into their lesson plans. Here are a few projects they've come up with. If you have a project that involved Tiktaalik, send us a line and tell us about it - we just might post your picture and project here!

excerpt from an email from Ms. Philbin:

4/25/06 - A few days ago the class finished constructing a nine foot replica/model out of paper mache from inferences that we made after reading many articles and images seen on your website and other scientific sources. To get a good portion of our evidence about Tiktaalik, the class listened to the Tiktaalik audio file from the University. Following the audio file, we had long discussions about the function a bottom half would serve and how it may have evolved over time. We decided to include our inferential thinking and constructed a bottom half portion of the creature.

We received the images of your models when we were nearly done with our own creation, and were quite taken back by how close we came to what you created! The images were a huge source of inspiration and really captured our imaginations.

Ms. Philbin's class also shared their renditions of what they thought Tiktaalik looked like in life.
